Sacred Games is an Indian thriller TV series which is based on the novel of the same name by Vikram Chandra. The series is written by Varun Grover, Smita Singh, and Vasant Nath and first aired on 29th June 2018 on Netflix. The series gained a positive response worldwide from viewers and critics alike. Netflix finally renewed the series for Season 2 in September 2018 owing to the massively positive reaction to the first season of the series.
The series revolves around a troubled police inspector, Sartaj Singh who receives a call from a crime lord who went missing 16 years ago. He tells Sartaj to save Mumbai city is 25 days, which starts a reaction chain of events which takes Sartaj to the darkest and deepest holes of the underworld. Sartaj is helped by Anjali Mathur, a Research and Analysis Wing officer.
Sacred Games Season 2 Release Date
The series was met with positive response worldwide, and Eric Barmack, the vice president for Netflix Originals, commented on the series saying that he was ‘thrilled’ by the response the series got and also said that the series has a ‘high-quality production.’ He added that he would be excited to take the story of the series forward. Netflix in September 2018 posted a video on Twitter indicating the renewal of Sacred Games for Season 2. The video said that ‘the worst is yet to come.’ Also, the video added that Sacred Games would be back with a new season.
The shooting for the Season 2 was started in September as per the lead actor Saif Ali Khan playing the role of Sartaj Singh. There has been no update on the release date, but we can expect the Season 2 to air around July 2019 if the series follows Season 1 release date.
The main cast for Season 2 will include Saif Ali Khan as Inspector Sartaj Singh, Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Ganesh Gaitonde, Radhika Apte as Anjali Mathur.
