Eren is being reminded of that now, and he wants to check it out for himself.

The secrets of Titans and humanity lie there. To do that, they must go to the district and mend the wall first. This will only be possible by Eren’s hardening ability. He still needs to get a good grasp over it, so we will see Eren trying to control his powers better in the next few episodes, while planning to go and fill the hole in order to uncover the secrets of the Titans.
