Shokugeki no Soma Season 5? Release date for Season 4

As there was a big confusion when Shokugeki no Soma started airing again in April, I want to clarify something. The 12 episodes that just finished airing on the 24th of June 2018 were the second half of Season 3, called Shokugeki no Souma: San no Sara – Toutsuki Ressha-hen, meaning Third Plate – Toutsuki Train arc. As this season ended with the First Bout of the Regimental Shokugeki, it is expected that Shokugeki no Soma Season 4 will end with the end of the Regimental Shokugeki.

Shokugeki No Soma Season 5 Release Date?

As this is a rare occurrence where a season is split into two parts, many fans mistook it with Season 4 and are already mistakenly searching for Shokugeki no Soma Season 5. The real Fourth Season should be called Shokugeki no Soma: Yon no Sara, meaning The Fourth Plate.

All three seasons are based on Yuto Tsukuda’s Food Wars! manga series. The manga series is already up to Volume 29. The English translation by VIZ Media is up to Volume 24 and Volume 25 is scheduled to release on August 7, 2018. Volume 26 is set for October 2, 2018, and Volume 27 for December 4, 2018.

For people who want to pick up the manga after the end of the Third Season, episode 24 covered until the middle of Chapter 217: The First Bout Continues and ended up with some small filler scenes since the anime did not want to reveal who will participate in the Second Bout. As the Regimental Shokugeki ended with chapter 263 (the latest being chapter 268), there is definitely enough content for 12 episodes Season 4 considering the approximate 4 chapters covered per episode pace of the anime.

The bad news is that right now there is not enough content for a Fifth Season, with only 5 chapters from a new arc being released so far.
